After another great Lansing Maker Week I caught up with WKAR’s Mark Bashore where we talked about the maker movement and what happened at Startup Weekend Maker Edition. Check out the interview below.
I’m proud to be a part of the Lansing Proto team. We are helping entrepreneurs and startups get access to digital manufacturing tools and resources to help them make an impact.
Jake Allen from the State News came by the ELPL Maker Studio to learn more about 3D printing. He also talked to our director of technology services as well as one of our patrons who is a very talented sculptor.
The City Pulse came down to ELPL’s Maker Studio too. We talked about Pokemon. If you see a paper edition this week check out page 9.
The State Journal wanted to know just what was going on over in East Lansing so I gave them a tour of the Studio. The most important takeaway were two words. “Lego. Room.”
I’ve been pretty lucky and I wanted to share something. I’m very fortunate to be working with the East Lansing Public Library and the City of East Lansing, both of whom have written some very generous words about me. We have many type of digital manufacturing technology as well as arts and crafts. If you’re at all curious about what I do please come visit and we can make something cool together!

On February 28th at LCC West I’m helping host a 3D Printing event with LEAP, 3DHubs, and a variety of other local organizations. The goal is to help inventors, entrepreneurs and the curious create their first CAD model and 3D print it for them that day.
I’ve invited friends from the 3DP industry like Will and Mike from B3 Innovations to speak about their experience of creating a product, crowdfunding it and getting it onto the shelves of a major retailer. We’ll also have Robert Zylstra talking about starting one of the very first 3D printing stores and his design experience.
Tickets are limited, sign up here. Let make something great!
On February 24th I’ll be teaching a workshop at the MSU Library covering the basics of 3D printing and 3D modeling and design. If you are a student sign up right away as seating is limited!
